daygnostics was founded in 2020 to adapt atechnology that had originally been developed with significant investments for human applications to food safety.
The diagnostic platform has been developed in close collaboration with two leading Swiss based food companies and the testing kits, protocols respectively, are now ready for commercialisation:
• AFNOR validation in progress: positive crash test results in external validation lab achieved for
different food quality applications
• Development pipeline for further pathogens as well as multiplex applications established
• IP protection initiated: first patent filed

infrastructure in Technologiepark Basel /Switzerland.
Elmar has more than 30 years of experiencein advising the leadership teams of corporations, family businesses and start-ups in questions of strategy, business development, M&A, organisation and efficiency. He led the foundation and build-up of Boston Consulting Group’s Swiss business serving as Senior Partner, CEO and Chairman. He is personally invested in family businesses and start-ups since 1990 and advises Private Equity groups on investments and their development. Elmar serves on the Board of family businesses and start-ups in food, diagnostics, technology and real estate.
Giancarlo has almost 20 years of experience in various management positions from development to global sales in market leading companies. Since 2014 he is personally invested in start-up companies in the field of diagnostics and food and is engaged at a small sized family office in Solothurn, Switzerland. Besides advising investment funds and strategic bodies, Giancarlo works on ad-interim CEO mandates offering his broad and deep knowledge to company owners. Giancarlo owns board experience in bigger and smaller companies.
With more than fifteen years of experience, acquired within multi-nationals, mainly with Johnson & Johnson (consumer and pharma) and SME (production), Corinne has the capability to adapt and transfer her knowledge in Project management, Planning, Purchasing, Supplier Relationship, Product industrialization, Cost, Quality and Organization to our start-up environment.
Fabian has more than 10 years of experience in applying and developing molecular biology technologies with a focus on nucleic acid handling, qPCR and next generation sequencing. He obtained his PhD in 2019 from the University of Cambridge, UK working in the field of RNA regulation. From 2020 –2022 he extended his molecular skills at the Friedrich Miescher Institute, Basel, by applying single cell sequencing and high content microscopy in the field of regeneration.
Ingrid is a microbiologist interested in the lives of microorganism in various habitats. She obtained her PhD in 1999 from the University of Queensland (Australia) working on bacteria in the sugarcane leaf sheath microenvironment. From 2003 to 2015, Ingrid worked at the Institute of Microbiology, University of Innsbruck (Austria) on the development and application of microarrays to detect microorganisms in the compost and anaerobic digestion environments. Since 2016 Ingrid gained further experience and knowledge in the roles of both Research Technician and Research Scientist working for a diagnostic start-up.
Dominique finished her Master of Science in molecular biology. During her studies, she focused on immunodeficiencies and how to improve the diagnosis of interferonopathies. This mainly included the work with primary human cells and many qPCRs.
daygnostics developed its proprietary diagnostic method in close cooperation with one of the biggest food testing laboratories and an international food producing group, both based in Switzerland. This ensured at all times the full alignment of our product development with the practical requirements of a real testing environment.
